Last Wednesday, August 20 Brandon and I went to the Jack Johnson show in St. Helens Oregon. Our great friends Rouge Wave opened up for him. They have gone through so much in the last couple of years and they definately deserve this. We are so proud of them! If you haven't heard them before, make sure to check out their music. It is beautiful and heart-wrenching.

We saw an amazing sunset during the Rouge wave set. It really set the mood. I kept noticing tears in my eyes and felt overcome with love. I realized that I have so many wonderful people in my life that mean so much to me and made an agreement with myself to express that more often. You never know what tomorrow holds.

Back stage we caught a funny picture of Zack holding his baby Wren and whiskey--then he rushed off to join Jack Johnson on stage. He was amazing. Sometimes it is hard to grasp the talent that some people have. Zack is a natural story-teller and wonderful musician.

This weekend Brandon and I worked in the garden. Our plants are beginning to look like giant mutants from another plant. Thank you miracle grow!

Meg Got Hitched!

My big sister got married this weekend! Does't she look lovely? It was a beautiful ceremony on top of a mountain overlooking Boulder, CO. It rained the day before so we were nervous, but the clouds parted just in time. I was so proud of my sister for planning a very simple and heartfelt wedding (and keeping her cool). I never thought we looked like sisters, but as we get older we look more and more like sisters, and I couldn't be happier about it!

Like Brandon suit? He looks goooooood!

Then.......We started with a toast, got toasty, and had an awesome time.

Cat and Mouse

Yesterday Brandon noticed a mouse eating an apple in our backyard. He thought our neighbor's cat would be interested to know, so he brought him over. These are the amazing photos Brandon took;

Don't worry, no mice were hurt in the making of these photos!

Bowling

Went to the new Grand Central Bowl this weekend for Danielle's birthday. Had a blast, but did not do any bowling. I got there too late. It was cute, Ehrin, her boyfriend somehow got a bowlingpin for us to sign.

I had high heels on and fell down a flight of stairs! Just like Britney Murphy in Clueless. It hurt like hell, but I was alright. Plus, the manager felt bad about the absence of lights so I got free drinks all night! That was almost worth falling for!

I love you sweet summertime!

Oh yes...swimming with close friends and Mexican beer with lime. I can't imagine a better afternoon.

Brandon's face with legs! Too bad those bronze babies aren't mine.

We made a firepit for the cool evenings!

Brandon got hot next to the fire and had to alter his pants!
owwwwwwwwwww!

The best part of the firepit is covering it up when we are done using it.

Flug Tag

This Weekend was the second Red Bull Flug Tag on Waterfront in Portland.  An estimated 80,000 crowded the park's edge to watch people huck themselves off a platform in man-made flying devices to try and catch air.  Most do not succeed.  More than half go diving nose first and a few even flip all the way around.  Overall a hilarious event to witness.
We rode bikes to avoid traffic.

I like Brandon and Mike's squinty faces.

Then, on the way home we drove by our friend's band playing in the parking lot of Portland Music.  They ROCK! I love Portland (in the summer).

New Blog

Blogging is new for me, I started this page about six months ago and never posted. I guess I forgot about it until now. Since I closed my myspace account I thought it would be nice to post photos and updates here. It is called Travel Yearn because of some serious desire I feel right now to get out and explore our world! Right now Brandon and I are trying to decide if we want to go to Europe (specifically Germany/The Netherlands), Mexico or Peru. Basically it is coming down to cost. The stupid dollar is so weak now. I am not at home so I can't post too many current pictures, just what I have at work. Here are some photos of the neat new guitar Brandon built. It's got a bar inside the guitar, just in case.

I had some other images on my computer I can share. These are all the pictures I took in a graveyard in Mexico. I was blown away by all the beautiful colors and adornments. Man, they really know how to celebrate life. I am inspired by that culture. I want to be cherished when I die and I want to be comforted with soothing rituals when those close to me die. It was a powerful experience to be in this graveyard. I keep thinking about how different these graves are from anything I've ever seen.
